our very great adventure

i have not been here in months, the fall and end of the year came and went in a flurry of long term house guests, zillions of family photo sessions on the books, and lovely holidays spent with the people i love most.  now that a new year has arrived, i look forward to what lies next; possibly the grandest adventure on which i have yet to embark.

this week eden, etta mae, ivy ann and myself leave america to spend two full months in the green hills for which this blog (and our homeschool) are named; rwanda.  we will live on the same compound where i lived when i first arrived, over 12 years ago.  the place where i first had my attention drawn to a certain tall dark handsome stranger.  the place where so much of my story as a wife and mother, truly so much of my story as a person, began.  robert will join us for a portion of our stay, but will not travel either direction with us.  all five agabas will have our feet in the rwandan dust, at last.

the girls and i plan to  engage in our daily lessons, augmented by rwandan language immersion study, traditional dance lessons,  and travels around the country to encounter the people and natural beauty of one of the most exquisite and vibrant places on this earth.

i hope you will follow our journey, i hope you will find joy in it, and i would love to know if you are here reading along.

to those of you in richmond, we will miss you!  to those of you in rwanda, we can't wait to be with you.

let the great rwandan adventure of 2020 commence!
