this year we decided to combine eden's 5th birthday with the 6th birthday's of two of her closest friends, elloah and sloane. all three girls were born in the same few weeks in august and instead of inviting the same guest list to three consecutive weekends of parties, we just did one big free for all. and it was a blast. the kids played field day games and then swam in the pool to finish the day off. we are so thankful to have such wonderful friends to celebrate each stage of life with. christine was on video duty and i made sure to snap photos. with our powers combined, i think we documented quite thoroughly.
it was a blast watching the kids run around participating in field games. eden is so lively and so much fun to be around. and i so thoroughly enjoy each of her friends (which is a huge bonus and i feel is not always the case with parents and the friends of their kids) that the party was as much fun for me as it was for her.
dear friend, and resident baker of all things perfect, mignon made these beautiful cupcakes for the girls and they all smiled from ear to ear as their little friends fit all three names into one happy birthday song. they opened gifts (all handmade or second hand as a rule) with delight, noticing how each friend had picked out such personal and unique gifts.

on the actual day of eden's birthday, which was a saturday, we had a leisurely morning that started with balloons and ended way too much food. i really enjoyed the pace of the morning and having just family here. i made blueberry scones with berries we picked and i was really pleased with how they turned out. eden mostly got clothes and shoes as gifts, which is always so great because we really dont have room, or need, for many toys. robert and i did get her a barn of horses which she really loves. she spends alot of time playing pretend and her stories often involve horses. so they were the perfect accompaniment to her play.

im not saying we will combine parties every year, but i will say it was easy, inexpensive, and a great way to celebrate three wonderful young ladies at once!
