2nd Annual Talent Show

last weekend we gathered for our second annual talent show. we started doing the talent show in order to give our kids a chance to share what they are currently learning and or loving.  last year it was pure delight, so we knew the event would become annual.  this year i got to host, which was so much fun since i love hosting and since i have been so ill for so long and have not been able to host much. it was an absolutely perfect day and we spread out in the side/back yard.  (disclaimer, there are alot of photos.  i wanted to feature each young performer).
the event is really easy to put on because its really low maintenance and very causal.  christine (who also put the below video together) planned the order for the performances, her husband served as emcee, and robert and i threw together the stage and snack areas.
the weather was gorgeous and we had a varied and entertaining set of performances from some really proud kids.  the best part was not even the performances themselves, but listening to the kids applaud and encourage each other.  i think more than a few grown up hearts were just overflowing with gratitude for this community of little people growing together.
eden: sang (and swept) castle on a cloud from les miserables
the lu sisters: danced to "faith" by stevie wonder
logan: counted to 30
sloane: blew up a balloon (and then let it fly)
alec: sang the intro to 'cuckoo' from sound of music
riley: sang 'a million dreams' from the greatest showman
simone and imogen: tapped to the french pretzel vendor song, and passed out homemade pretzels
imogen and ira: sang and did a puppet show to a muppets song
loah: shared some recent drawings
 owen & lilly: did gymnastics
 simon: performed sword skills
winnie: sang and danced to 'im still standing'
thad: built towers to intense instrumental music
and last, psalm wowed us all with some magic tricks
this is by far one of my favorite events we do as a group of friends because it is so fun to plan for, but so easy to pull off, and the kids are always so proud of themselves and each other.  well done kids!
