a visit from olivier + esther

a few weeks ago we had the immense pleasure of hosting one of robert's life long friends and his new wife esther.   olivier had never been to america before, nor had he seen snow, so the small fall we got the day they arrived was pretty perfect.

olivier was like a brother to me when i lived in rwanda and we have missed him so much since we moved to america eight years ago.  and eden fell head over heels for him when we visited 2.5 years ago.  apparently absence only made her little heart grow fonder.
we spent lots of time in the house, cooking, eating, laughing and catching up.  the girls latched on to esther very quickly and wanted to follow her around.  every time i looked around and saw little bits of moments here and there, i was overwhelmed again at how incredible it is when worlds collide.  i always feel that way when we have rwandans in our home here.  two worlds, both a part of us, all in the same place.
one evening some of our best friends came by to meet our guests.  it was another worlds colliding moment.
even though it was so windy and cold we still wanted to show them our favorite places in rva.  we had our favorite burgers and donuts and drove through all the most beautiful parts of town.  we finished up on campus at the university of richmond.
thank you so much for visiting us, and you are welcome back any time!

    This is all soo beautiful.
We are so grateful for the opportunity to be reunited this year. I am seeing a lot about God's timing on where he wants us to be and when.
