etta mae is rounding the bend, closing in on the end of year two. and there are so many things i want to remember about her right now.
i wish i could record a perfect little clip of her doing each of the things that i particularly love right now. in lieu of that, since she is the daughter who hates repeating things for me on film (unlike eden who will do it ad nauseam), here is a list of some of my favorites.
the way she says 'sure' when i ask her if she wants to do some particular thing.
the way she puts her head down when she is disappointed, or gently leans her forehead against a wall when she is bummed out.
the way she stands outside a door and yells 'knock' instead of knocking.
the way she asks me to sing her bed time song i wrote for her and eden. she sings the first line to me, inviting me to join her, and then she quietly tries to sing along as she snuggles me and pats my back with her little hand.
how she hands me a book and says 'read it!'
how she asks puts her little arms up and says 'mama hold you please?'
how she will stand at her stool at the sink and wash dishes for 45 minutes.
how she requests music for dancing and then shakes her little bum and bobs around.
her voice. really anything she says just sounds so stinking sweet at this age.
the way she says 'you ok edee?' after something has happened to make eden sad or hurt.
the way she checks on me when i am throwing up (which is often).
there are too many others for me to remember them all right now but thats a decent list. this age, 18-24 months, is easily my favorite as far as watching them grow and learn and it being unbearably sweet.
oh and the way she loves her daddy. i mean get out of the way everyone. their relationship is just precious beyond words.

and she talks alot. i dont remember eden having such a vocabulary this early. it would make sense since etta has eden to teach her and encourage her into conversation. etta's dependence on eden is really sweet, she asks her for help and to come play. she also hits her on occasion. working on that.
oh and the way she kisses the air when you are far from her but she wants to remind you she loves you. she just calls your name and kisses in your direction. swoon.
