High Five

Its Friday again people.  I don’t know how your week was, but mine was significantly better than last week.  Here is a brief update on five highlights of my week.

1.  I got to see my family this weekend, which is always a highlight.  Especially in light of recent events, it was a great comfort to have my mother take care of me and to be surrounded by the people dearest to me.

2.  This week our community group had a time of prayer and worship (preceded by a time of pizza) and it was just a really sweet space.  Our group has really become a family and I treasure time spent in the word with them.

3.  This incredible group put on a concert at our church this week.  Their goal is to re-write old hymns so that they will still be present in churches and in the hearts and minds of believers.  They did an incredible job and led us in really beautiful, really thoughtful worship.  If you are looking for some great folksy, melancholy, mellow versions of your favorites, look no further. I have the lullaby album on repeat at work.

4.  Our church has a choir for the advent season, and we have been having weekly practices.  I LOVE being in a choir again.  And not just any choir, a really cool one.  Our music and arts director has written parts for us that essentially make us another instrument to go with the band on Sunday mornings, which is really fun.  AND it means I get to sing Christmas songs all the time now…legitimately.  As our choir director told us, if anyone gets on our case for singing Christmas music now, we can just say we are “doing the Lord’s work”.

5.  I got to see my friend Amanda last night, who used to reside in RVA but moved away this spring.  She was in town for a few days and some of us ladies met up tonight to reconnect with her.  Always good to see you Amanda!

Hope you all had good weeks and that you have a great weekend!

  1. SOunds like you've got a great church group. I totally think that is so important- after college church is one of the best ways to meet people who have the same standards as you! I just found your blog and have loved getting to know you better. I hope you don't mind if I follow along!
