Life's Accents

So my birthday is this past weekend.  And, in pre-birthday celebration, my dear friend Kristina and her husband Peter came for a quick visit. They live in Massachusetts and just hopped down for a few days.  For those of you who do not know my lovely life-long friend Kristina, this is her.

We have been friends since first grade and have a billion and half memories together.  She is delightful and beautiful and makes me laugh in a way that only she can.  She got married in 2008 and I was home to be in her wedding to Peter, who is fantastic.  Then, she was in my wedding last summer.

So, they came down for a quick few days and we caught up on life.  Its so hard to stay close when miles are always making it difficult, but somehow we always have.  Kristina and I faithfully sent snail mail to each other all through college, and even afterwards.
But a few days of face time really helped put us back on track.

The whirlwind trip included Kristina and me drinking Grande Carmel Frappacinos from Starbucks and talking for hours, eating lots of yummy food, watching Duke play, wine, cheese, birthday cake and LOTS of laughter.  It was just good for my soul.

I think my favorite thing might have been the way that our husbands, who both had ‘ridiculous’ (said in Peter’s Boston accent) accents, could understand each other perfectly.  Robert with his village boy words and Peter with his ‘pak ya ca noma’ lingo.  Kristina and I sometimes had no idea what they were saying, but they always knew.  And Robert said things to Peter like “You are the guy they do in movies”.  It was hilarious.

Anyway, thank God for good friends, good food, good wine, and laughter.

Love you two!
